![]() Production The marble from the Visnes deposit is a pure metamorphic rock, formed around 1 billion years ago . The lime depositet in water and went through a process of high pressure and temperature. The result was a crystallised pure white marble with few impurities - both frost - and weatherproof. The total deposit of marble is about 40 mill. tons and the yearly production is at 600 000 tonn, hence there are still work for many decades. The marble is crushed in 3 stages. The first stage takes place in a stationary crushing plant in the mountain. Further size reduction takes place in the treatment plant at the harbour area. The third stage covers sieving installations for products from 3 to 15 mm, and also for the finest grades 0.2 to 3 mm. Visnes Kalk AS carry out its quality control in accordance with ISO 9002. All processes at the company are described in a QA-manual.
